Campaign Story
My name is Jen, and my husband Cody and I would love to start a family. Unfortunately, I received a devastating diagnosis of uterine adenosarcoma and uterine adenocarcinoma on 2/1/23. The standard of care is a complete hysterectomy, and I may need further treatments. I will require a surrogate to carry my child because of the cancer, which was devastating for me, as cancer is robbing me of all the joys and experiences of pregnancy.
I wanted to try and create embryos prior to treatment, so I did an egg retrieval on 3/19/23 and on 4/20/23. Unfortunately my 2 embryos from March both had Trisomy 16, which is not compatible with life. I’m hopeful to have at least one normal embryo from April, but I must wait and see. If I do not have a usable embryo, I’d like to proceed with embryo adoption and using the surrogate.
To me, I’ve realized that it doesn’t matter what path I take to become a mom, the destination is what’s important. In the end, I’ll still be a mom.
Unfortunately, surrogacy and embryo adoption is very cost prohibitive for us, so I’m asking for anyone who would like to help. Every little bit helps and is appreciated. I’ve got a tough road ahead of me, but I cannot give up on my dream of motherhood .
